OUR MISSION:
We support, educate and inspire people to create a more sustainable lifestyle in Martinez.
OUR VISION:
To embrace the principles of Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share in a spirit of support, enthusiasm, compassion and sharing.
To welcome Beginners and celebrate humble beginnings. To value Intention and recognize that we all start from where we are now.
OUR JOURNEY:
The Martinez Permaculture Center is more evident in concept than physicality at this time. Our aim is to build a community of Permaculture practitioners (sometimes called Permies) that share ideas and knowledge to support one another. We believe that absolutely everyone has something to offer our community. We also believe that everyone can do something to make their circumstances more sustainable, more healthful and to bring more joy in their lives.
As this website develops, we are intent on keeping the content relevant to all levels of Permaculture awareness. We want to be a resource for questions. There is so much local knowledge and creativity in our community that together we can surely find a solution for any challenge that arises.
We have community members that are very knowledgeable on such topics as fruit trees, vegetable gardening, soil, native plants, edible natives, greywater and rainwater harvesting. The Martinez Permaculture Center is creating opportunities to bring all these riches together. To give and to share the surplus. Whether it is a surplus of plums, home saved chard seed, compost, or someone sharing their knowledge through demonstrating how to build an adobe wall, solar oven or planting a medicinal garden.
Your questions might be at the entry level . . .
You might have researched a specific subject such as ground water, sequestered carbon transport or energy and have some thoughts and comments to share. Current Practices at the Martinez Permaculture Center:
